Volunteer Position: Membership Development

Membership Development Volunteer

The Local Clean Energy Alliance (LCEA), the Bay Area's largest clean energy coalition, with 90 affiliated member organizations, including environmental justice, social justice, environmental, business, and community groups, seeks a motivated and organized Membership Development Volunteer. This is a great opportunity to gain experience on energy policy advocacy while providing needed assistance with our membership development efforts. This position is out of the LCEA’s office in downtown Oakland, though much of the work can be performed off site.

This volunteer position is supervised by the LCEA Coordinator. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Contact existing LCEA members by email, with phone follow-up, to solicit renewals and increase their participation
  • Activate new members who join through the LCEA web site
  • Attract new members from participants in LCEA activities
  • Manage membership data in our Salesforce contact database
  • Represent LCEA on phone and in-person at events
  • Compose and send email communications to LCEA members or potential members, as needed

Qualifications:

  • A passion for the clean power, healthy communities perspective of the LCEA
  • Good written and verbal communication and people skills, in-person and on the phone
  • Responsible, very organized, and detail-oriented
  • Quick learner who is interested in learning about local renewable energy systems, sustainable development, community resilience, and social justice
