Volunteer Opportunities

We always have a need for volunteers who would be interested in community outreach, research, organizing, membership development, and event staffing. Check out the following volunteer opportunities:

Administrative Support
These volunteer positions are supervised by the LCEA Administrative team leader. Primary responsibilities include (depending on the position(s)):

  • Handles deposits, disbursements, contracts, new hires, payroll, financial tracking
  • Manage LCEA office: rent, phone, printing, office supplies, website upgrades
  • Maintain LCEA inventories: publications, tshirts, lit table supplies, sales records
  • Review financial statements and budget
  • Manage organizational requests: information, sponsorships, presentations, tabling opportunities, webinar announcements, important events, legislative alerts, and monitor email communications
  • Manage google doc directory, google groups, email accounts
  • Develop processes

Communications Support
These volunteer positions are supervised by the LCEA Communications team leader. Primary responsibilities include (depending on the position(s)):

  • Produce well written communications: email blasts (News & Alerts and project-specific)
  • Manage social media
  • Maintain website content
  • Manage LCEA contact database
  • Build and strengthen organizational relationships
  • Organize event tabling
  • Develop media/press relations
  • Conduct phone banking outreach

Financial Resources Support
These volunteer positions are supervised by the LCEA Financial Resources team leader. Primary responsibilities include (depending on the position(s)):

  • Recruit and hold Individual donors/members
  • Secure grant funding
  • Develop service/consulting revenues
  • Develop processes

Human Resources Support
These volunteer positions are supervised by the LCEA Human Resources team leader. Primary responsibilities include (depending on the position(s)):

  • Recruit volunteers, staff (when needed), interns (college programs)
  • Hire staff, contractors
  • Organize staff meetings and Steering Committee meetings
  • Train and coordinate volunteers, interns
  • Manage staff relations:performance reviews and compensation

Conference Sponsor Outreach Volunteer

This volunteer position is supervised by the LCEA Coordinator. Primary responsibilities include:
  • Reach out to potential sponsors of the LCEA's Clean Power, Healthy Communities conference
  • Participate in meetings of the conference sponsorship committee
  • Represent LCEA on phone and in-person meetings

Legislative Analyst Volunteer

This volunteer position is supervised by the LCEA Coordinator. Primary responsibilities include:
  • Researching state legislation relevant to LCEA's work
  • Draft positions for the LCEA regarding support or opposition to relevant state legislation
  • Help organize LCEA response to relevant state legislation
  • Participate in LCEA meetings
  • Represent LCEA on phone and in-person meetings

Promotions Volunteer

This volunteer position is supervised by the LCEA Coordinator. Primary responsibilities include:
  • Design and produce promotional materials for LCEA publications, briefings, and conferences
  • Perform outreach to target audiences: energy advocates, organizations, educational institutions, and others
  • Participate in LCEA meetings
  • Represent LCEA on phone and in-person at events

Researcher/ Analyst Volunteer
This volunteer position is supervised by the LCEA Coordinator. Primary responsibilities include:
  • Researching renewable energy and energy policy developments that impact the work of the LCEA.
  • Prepare briefings or reports on research results
  • Participate in LCEA meetings
  • Represent LCEA on phone and in-person at events

Membership/ Development Volunteer
This volunteer position is supervised by the LCEA Coordinator. Primary responsibilities include:
  • Contact existing LCEA members by email, with phone follow-up, to increase their participation
  • Activate and contact new members who join through the LCEA web site
  • Manage membership data in our Salesforce contact database
  • Participate in LCEA meetings
  • Represent LCEA on phone and in-person at events
  • Compose and send email communications to LCEA members, as needed
