Local Clean Energy Meeting - Electrified Transit Talk

In addition to local clean electricity, our vision calls for
cities to be reconfigured around local and regional electrified transit systems thereby reducing the energy intensity of transportation as well as dependence on fossil fuels. Our guest speaker this month is Jason Meggs, a City Planning and Public Health dual masters (MCP/MPH) candidate at UC Berkeley (2008) who has fifteen years experience advocating sustainable
transport solutions. His talk is:

Electrified Transit, Walking and Bicycling: A Complete Urban Transport Solution for Health and Sustainability. Grid-connected vehicles (GCVs) are tried and true technology with a superior health and sustainability profile. They were extensively used in the Bay Area in early 20th century and are still in use now in San Francisco. Jason will explain why the ideal urban transport implementation pairs walking and bicycling with trolley bus, truck and train technology.
