On Monday December 8th, Berkeley City Council will consider a resolution from Kriss Worthingon and co-sponsored by Jesse Arreguin and Max Anderson in support of a joint council workshop with Oakland. The resolution states:
The workshop could provide a forum to not only answer questions but to also look at different ways in which CCE could be implemented, including hearing from the East Bay Municipal Utility District about their capabilities to administer an East Bay CCE program in their service territory, as well as looking at Marin's Joint Powers Authority which was recently formed to implement CCE in Marin County.
Please let jan@baylocalize.org know if you are able to come to the Berkeley City Council meeting in support of Community Choice.
At the Berkeley Agenda Committee meeting yesterday, Councilmember Wozniak requested that the item be moved from the Consent Calendar to the Action Calendar for discussion. He stated that he was concerned about approving this item at this time when the Energy Commission had not made its recommendation yet and wanted to see if it can be held up until the Energy Commission item goes to the Council. We are hoping to garner the Berkeley Energy Commission's support for a joint council workshop at their meeting tomorrow (Dec. 3, 6:30p at the North Berkeley Senior Center, 1901 Hearst St).
If you are not able to come to the Dec 8th meeting, please call your Berkeley city councilor and let them know that you support a joint council workshop. Please also call Tom Bates as well. Contact info is below.
