Volunteer Position: Legislative Analyst

Legislative Analyst Volunteer

The Local Clean Energy Alliance (LCEA), the Bay Area's largest clean energy coalition, with 90 affiliated member organizations, including environmental justice, social justice, environmental, business, and community groups, seeks a motivated and organized Legislative Analyst Volunteer.  This is a great opportunity to gain experience on energy policy advocacy while providing needed legislative support for our efforts. This position is out of the LCEA’s office in downtown Oakland, though much of the work can be performed off site.

This volunteer position is supervised by the LCEA Coordinator. Primary responsibilities include:

  • Researching state legislation relevant to LCEA's work
  • Draft positions for the LCEA regarding support or opposition to relevant state legislation
  • Help organize LCEA response to relevant state legislation
  • Participate in LCEA meetings
  • Represent LCEA on phone and in-person meetings

Qualifications:

  • A passion for the clean power, healthy communities perspective of the LCEA
  • General knowledge/background regarding renewable energy and renewable energy policy
  • Good research and analysis skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Responsible, very organized, and detail-oriented
