Support Community Choice in Berkeley's Climate Action Plan

A revised draft of the Berkeley Climate Action Plan is being released for community review and comment this Thursday, September 18.  Access and comment on the report online at the City's climate action website: www.BerkeleyClimateAction.org

If you are available, please show up at a workshop at City Council Chambers on the Climate Action Plan on Tuesday, September 23 from 5:30-7 pm.  The workshop is an opportunity to learn how the plan has been revised (based on community comments) and to voice your initial feedback on this latest draft.

At this point, we don't know if Community Choice is in the Climate Action plan.  Please show up and let the Berkeley City Council know that you think Community Choice is one of the best ways to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from electricity generation, and belongs in Berkeley's Climate Action Plan.

TALKING POINTS:

  • Marin County found that Community Choice is its most cost-effective option for addressing climate change, as the greenhouse gas emissions reductions are funded by electricity bills.
  • Community Choice belongs in Berkeley's Climate Action Plan, and should be implemented as quickly as possible to give residents a choice to buy more renewable energy.
  • If small cities such as Alameda can successfully purchase energy on the state market to offer its residents cheaper and greener electricity than PG&E, why not Berkeley?

Please RSVP to janlcg@gmail.com to let us know that you will support Community Choice in the Berkeley Climate Action Plan.
