Everyone Under the Sun rally at the Capitol was a success

(10/2022) Update originally written by Solar Rights Alliance

Major thanks to so many organizations for making the October 11th Everyone Under the Sun rally a success. We counted a bit more than 1,000 attendees, a remarkable turnout for a hot day in the middle of the week in Sacramento.

People came from as far as Joshua Tree and San Diego to tell Governor Newsom to keep rooftop solar growing - and help him understand that this issue will remain in the public spotlight so long as rooftop solar is threatened by the monopoly utilities. We heard speeches from some amazing leaders, including Local Clean Energy Alliance’s Jessica Guadalupe Tovar, as well as Aztec dancers, a mariachi band, a Gospel choir and Grammy-award winning band Ozomatli.

Big thanks to all the organizations who endorsed and promoted the Rally! Special thanks to these organizations for their extra elbow grease: Environmental Justice Coalition for Water, COFEM, Green the Church, CALSSA, People Power Solar Coop, 350 Bay Area, Indivisible Green Team, San Joaquin Urban Native Coalition, Hammond Climate Solutions, Solar Rights Alliance, Local Clean Energy Alliance and Environment California.

Special thanks to Solar Rights Alliance for keeping the #NoSolarTax front and center!  So far no word from the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). So please keep the calls to Gavin Newsom coming, the stalling means community pressure is working.
