Intern Spotlight - Cynthia Campos

Cynthia Campos (she/her/ella) is a Cal State East Bay student intern for the Local Clean Energy Alliance while working alongside the City of Hayward to educate and inform current Hayward residents about home electrification to reduce climate change. She originally comes from SoCal, a city in Los Angeles known as Huntington Park. HP is more than a city to her, as this community has shaped her roots and background.

Now she resides in Hayward and will graduate in the spring and receive her Bachelor of Science in Public Health. She previously worked alongside her capstone professor on a COVID-19 evaluation project, where she helped facilitate focus groups. She also had the opportunity to be a student intern for the Latino Coordinating Center for a Tobacco-Free California, where she advocated and learned more ways to reduce tobacco-related disparities in the Latino community. Having these opportunities has given her a small insight into the different pathways and the work that public health consists of. Besides helping others and learning, Cynthia enjoys hiking trails, dancing, and traveling.
