Support Community Resilience & Oppose Nuclear Energy

As the 2023-2024 fiscal year wraps up for Ava Community Energy—Alameda & San Joaquin Counties' Community Choice electricity agency, it is critical for us to advocate for resources for our communities, and thus the $15 Million for Community Choice Resilience campaign is here with 32 organizations signed on!

⚡At the Ava Community Energy board meeting on May 15th we are urging the board to expand funding for resilience hubs beyond incentives for solar and storage for microgrid installations.

We need this agency to understand the urgent need of resources for resilience hub community organizing and planning, extreme weather needs like cooling centers, air filtration and other day to day operational needs like refrigeration.

Can you join us in person to speak to the board to support the $15 Million for Community Choice Resilience?

If you can join us, sign up here so we can follow up with talking points & other details.

If you cannot join in person, you can make comments virtually via Zoom. Details like the agenda, zoom information etc can be found here.

Ava Community Energy Board meeting will begin at 6:00pm (in the Lake Merritt room)
Cal State East Bay, The Oakland Center (off 12th St BART station)
In the Transpacific Center

In addition, the board will likely be voting on whether they should accept PG&E’s nuclear energy from the Diablo Canyon Power Plant in San Luis Obispo. Nuclear energy is NOT clean energy and LCEA will be speaking out against Ava Community Energy adding nuclear to their portfolio. We encourage you to demand “Ava Community Energy reject PG&E’s nuclear energy!

We will advocate for Ava Community Energy to reject the nuclear offering; we would love more people to voice their concerns for community health and clean energy.
